2008 Summit Urban Project

Two weeks of service, building friendships,
and learning in challenging urban situations
that will change your perspective forever.

Live and work in one of these Northwest communities:

HILLTOP in TACOMA: Address critical needs of the homeless through partnership with St. Leo's, Tacoma Rescue Mission and MLK Housing Association.

NORTHEAST PORTLAND: Assist agencies who seek to restore hope to the lives of elderly, abused women and at-risk youth.

Fairbanks, AK: Grow your heart for the people and land of Alaska through partnerships with local churches, Habitat for Humanity and the Boys & Girls club.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is committed to equipping life-long disciples of Jesus.

In this two-week internship, you will have the opportunity to live in a diverse community, partner with innovative ministries, and experience first hand the impact of mentoring children.

Testimonies from previous Summits

“Summit will really stretch you in ways you don't expect.  It can be challenging at times.  But it is definitely worth it seeing the smiles of the person you just served a meal to, hearing about someone's incredible story, touching someone's life and having them touch yours-these make Summit an experience you don't want to miss out on.” Jessica, University of Washington

“To me, the most significant experience was the ability to serve homeless people and be able to build relationships with them and truly learn to love them for who they are.” Luis, Yakima Valley Community College

“My time at the Portland Urban Project made me realize the real problem with homelessness is not the lack of food, but the lack of respect.”  Natasha, Evergreen State College
